Titan Mail Read Receipts: Does Titan Track Your Email?
Titan, the business email sold through GoDaddy and other web hosts, turns on open tracking by default for every message its paid users send. Since September 2026 it also hides other senders' remote images from its own users. Here is what a Titan sender learns when you open their email, and how to stop it in Gmail.
Titan Mail read receipts are not the polite kind. A Mail.ru receipt waits for the reader to press a button. Titan's version asks nothing: according to Titan's own help page on email tracking, tracking "is turned on by default for every email you send," and the sender gets "a real-time notification as soon as a recipient opens your email." If you have ever had an invoice, a quote or a sales pitch from a small business address on its own domain, there is a fair chance it came through Titan. Domain Name Wire reported in August 2025 that Titan had 2.3 million active mailboxes. We read Titan's help center, its release notes, its privacy policy and GoDaddy's documentation for the same product on October 13, 2026, and quote them directly below.
Key Takeaways
- Titan's email tracking help page says read receipts are on by default for every email a paid user sends, and the sender is notified in real time when a recipient opens it.
- GoDaddy, which sells the same product as Professional Email powered by Titan, limits read receipts to its Pro Plus, Premium and Ultra plans, and link and attachment tracking to Ultra.
- Section 6 of Titan's privacy policy says Titan may use web beacons, "tiny and invisible images that are embedded in emails," to track when and where an email was opened.
- Titan's September 9, 2026 web app release blocks remote images from unknown senders by default for its own users, the same kind of image its read receipts are described as relying on.
- Gmail shows images automatically by default, so a Gmail user who opens a tracked Titan email has no prompt to refuse, unless they change Gmail's image setting or use a blocker.
Does Titan Mail Have Read Receipts?
Yes, on paid plans, and they are switched on before the user touches anything. Titan calls the feature Email Tracking, and its help article, first published in November 2019 and updated October 9, 2026, describes it as a way to know "when someone opens an email you've sent," for example when "following up on a proposal, invoice, or any message you want to make sure was seen."
- Plan gating: Titan's list of features not included in the Free Plan includes Email Tracking (Read Receipts). The tracking page adds that "the number of read receipts allowed may vary depending on your plan."
- GoDaddy plans: GoDaddy's help page on email tracking for Professional Email powered by Titan says read receipts are only available on Pro Plus, Premium and Ultra, and that tracking is on by default for all emails sent.
- Trials: Titan's premium features trial FAQ lists Read Receipts first among the features a 15 day trial unlocks for every mailbox on a domain, though only with "select Titan partners."
- Campaigns: Titan's bulk sending tool is tracked too. The Email Campaigns guide says "Every campaign includes Read Receipts, allowing you to see which recipients have opened your email."
Who runs it? Titan's privacy policy names the operator as Titan Solution Ltd SEZC, registered in the Cayman Islands. Domain Name Wire reported that Bhavin Turakhia founded Titan, that its partners include Newfold Digital, GMO, Team Internet and Automattic, and that a 2025 deal put it in front of GoDaddy customers in markets including India and Brazil. Titan's help center also publishes setup guides for domains registered at Hostinger, Namecheap, HostGator and NameSilo.
What Does a Titan Sender See When You Open Their Email?
They see that you opened it and exactly when. Titan's read receipts blog post, updated June 2, 2022, says that for a message sent to several people, each recipient gets a separate entry "noting the exact date and time they opened it."
- Live alerts: the sender gets a notification the moment the email is opened, in Titan webmail and, since a December 8, 2023 release, in a read receipts notification center in Titan's mobile apps.
- A log: an eye icon in the top right corner of Titan webmail lists every receipt, and each sent message shows its own.
- A dashboard: Titan's link and file tracking page says the per email dashboard includes "timestamps for email opens, link clicks, and attachment downloads."
Titan's help pages do not say the sender sees your device or location. Its privacy policy reaches further, as the next section shows. None of the pages we read say the recipient is told that a message is tracked, and Titan's composer controls tracking from the sender's side only.
How Do Titan Read Receipts Work?
Titan's help pages don't explain the mechanism, but its privacy policy describes invisible images in emails. Clause 6.2(e) of the Titan Privacy Policy, updated October 11, 2026, is headed Web Beacons and URL-based tracking and reads: "We may use web beacons that are tiny and invisible images that are embedded in emails and are used to track information such as when the email was opened, where it was opened, clicks on links, and whether the email was forwarded or deleted."
That is the textbook definition of a tracking pixel, which our explainer on how Gmail read receipts work walks through. It is also a different animal from the standard receipt defined in RFC 8098, which calls a receipt request "merely a request" that the recipient's mail program is "always free to silently ignore." A pixel cannot be ignored that way; it fires when your mail program loads the image.
- What we could not confirm: Titan does not publish the hostname its tracking images load from, and we did not capture one in a live Titan email, so we do not name one here.
- Forwarded or deleted: the policy lists both, but no Titan help page shows senders a forwarded or deleted status. The documented sender view is open, click and download timestamps.
- Where it was opened: likewise listed in the policy and absent from the documented sender view.
Does Titan Track Link Clicks and Attachment Downloads?
Yes, when the sender chooses to, on top plans. Titan's Link and File Tracking guide says the sender is "notified of the recipient's name and the date and time stamp whenever a recipient clicks the link," and the same for file downloads. Titan announced this Advanced Tracking in its June 3, 2024 release notes.
- Per link, not automatic: the sender switches on a Track This Link option in the Insert Link window. GoDaddy's link and attachment tracking page describes the same toggle.
- Hosted files: tracked attachments are not attached at all. They sit on Titan's cloud servers and "expire automatically after 60 days."
- Plan gating: GoDaddy limits Advanced Email Tracking to its Ultra plan. Titan says only "select plans."
Blocking images does nothing here. A tracked click or download is recorded by Titan's server when you request the link or file. The only defense is to hover before clicking and to be aware that a download link from a Titan sender may report your download.
Does Titan Block Tracking Pixels in Its Own Inbox?
Yes, since September 2026, for mail from senders you don't know. Titan's release notes for web app version 5.109.0, released September 9, 2026, say: "Remote images from unknown senders are now blocked by default for greater privacy and security." The Android app got the same change that day and iOS on September 11.
Titan's remote images guide says the control "can help prevent third-party tracking images from loading automatically." Under Settings, Preferences, General, the Load external images in messages option offers three choices:
- Always load: every image loads, trackers included.
- From known senders: images load from contacts, your own domain and approved senders.
- Always ask: images stay hidden until you click Show images. Titan notes that marking a message as not spam does not count as trusting the sender.
Here is the tension. Titan now shields its users from other companies' invisible images while its paid tier puts its own read receipts, which its privacy policy ties to invisible images, into outgoing mail by default. Gmail is not as cautious as Titan's new setting. Google's Gmail image help page says "by default, when you get an email with an image, you'll see the image automatically," and admits that "sometimes, senders may know whether you've opened an email that has an image." A Titan user gets a prompt before an unknown sender's images load. A Gmail user opening a Titan sender's email gets none.
Does Titan Read Your Mailbox?
Titan stores and processes your email to deliver it, and its AI features read messages when you invoke them; we found no ad program built on mail content. The privacy policy lists content among the data it collects and gives the example that "if you transmit an email using our mail service, we need to collect the content of that email to display it to both you and the recipient."
- AI Summary: Titan's AI summary page says the feature "automatically analyzes the content of the email or email thread" when you click AI Summary, and that summaries are "visible only to you."
- Connected AI assistants: section 13 of the policy says that if you connect an outside AI assistant, it may get access to "the content of your emails, including attachments," and that "the provider may retain your information or use it to train or improve its models," depending on that provider's settings.
- Engagement data: the beacon clause says Titan uses tracking data "to help us and our Customers understand engagement of the email recipients," including "improving email marketing efforts." The recipients in that sentence are people who never signed up for Titan.
How to Turn Off Read Receipts If You Use Titan
If you send from Titan and don't want to track people, switch it off once. Titan's tracking help page gives two ways:
- For all mail: click the gear icon, then Preferences, find Email Tracking and turn the toggle off. On GoDaddy's version, the path is Settings, Preferences, Tracking, then uncheck Turn on tracking by default for all emails.
- For one message: click the eye icon in the compose toolbar before sending. GoDaddy's version shows a Track option under the subject line instead, selected by default.
- Protect your own inbox: set Load external images in messages to Always ask, so tracking images from senders you trust less stay blocked too.
How to Block Titan Read Receipts in Gmail
Most people on the receiving end of a Titan read receipt are not Titan users. They are clients, suppliers and job applicants reading in Gmail. Because Titan tracks by default, a business owner may be watching opens without ever having chosen to, which is one more reason to decide for yourself. Your options, with what each can and cannot do:
- Gmail's image setting: in Gmail on a computer, open Settings, See all settings, and under Images pick Ask before displaying external images. Google's help page documents the steps. It hides every remote image, logos and charts included, until you click.
- Gblock: a paid Chrome extension for Gmail on desktop browsers, with a 30 day trial. It blocks known tracking pixels from a blocklist that updates automatically and leaves other images alone. Its built in list had no Titan entry when we checked on October 13, 2026, so we can't promise it catches Titan's receipts today. The extension does flag tiny unrecognized images it sees in Gmail back to Gblock for review.
- Ugly Email, PixelBlock and Trocker: other Gmail extensions that block pixels from known trackers. We did not test them against a Titan email. Our Gmail tracking blocker comparison covers how they differ.
- Links and files: none of these stop Titan's link and file tracking, which happens on Titan's servers when you click.
Titan is not the only business tool doing this. Gmail extensions such as Mailtrack put the same kind of open tracking into everyday mail, as our review Is Mailtrack safe explains. The difference is the default. Mailtrack is an extension someone chooses to install. Titan's tracking ships switched on with the mailbox. Compare Zoho Mail, a rival business email service, where, as our Zoho Mail review found, a read receipt goes back to the sender only when the reader's settings allow it.
The Quick Answer
Does Titan Mail have read receipts? Yes. On paid plans they are on by default, and Titan says the sender gets a real time alert with the exact time you opened the message, without asking you. Titan's privacy policy describes invisible web beacons in emails, its top plans add link and download tracking, and a Gmail user sees no warning. Titan's own users got a remote image block in September 2026. Gmail users can get the same protection by switching Gmail to ask before showing images, or by using a pixel blocker that knows the tracker.
